The beautiful settlement of Anissaras is situated on a hill at the west of Hersonissos, and is a suburb of it. Its name derives from misinterpretation of the name “Agkisaras”. Agkisaras or Aladania is a Cretan herb that abounds in the area and effectively acts against insomnia, toothache and tetanus. It is also used at other medical and medication treatments.
