Stalis is one of the most interesting touristic resorts in Crete and one of the best choices if you want to go off-the-beaten-path. As it is located in the prefecture of Heraklion, between two other major resorts, Malia and Hersonissos, Stalis is not as widely known as the other resorts, giving you the opportunity to spend vacation away from the crowds. Stalis beach
The beach of Stalis is considered as one of the best beaches in Crete. It is a long sandy bay, full of beach bars, restaurants, taverns and hotels. There, you can find any touristic facility you may want, such as water-sports amenities, enjoy swimming or spend some calm moments. On such as long beach, which touches up Hersonissos and Malia, it is easy to find a spot to relax with peace and privacy.
Horseback session
The small town of Stalis has many horse ranches. If you love nature, you can make a horseback session to explore either the coastal side of the area or the breathtaking environment of Dikti Mountains, of course guided by professional horsemen. Either way, your kids will love it!
Hiking
Hiking is also an option from Stalis. You can hire a car and drive to the nearby mountainous traditional villages of Mochos or Krassi. You can stay there and eat or continue on foot to discover the magnificent mountainous scenery.
Labyrinth Theme Park
In a close distance to Stalis, is situated the Labyrinth Theme Park, which is the ideal place to spend an entertaining and educational day with your children. In this park, you will walk in the footsteps of heroes, explore the labyrinth like Theseus in mythology did and find the monster Minotaur.
Malia and Hersonissos
Malia and Hersonissos are the top spots in Crete for crazy nightlife. If you want to spend your whole day by the sea, dancing and drinking in a beach bar full of young people, or if you like clubs and bars until the dawn, then you can easily visit one of these resorts, which are located very close to Stalis.
Other excursions
As Stalis is located in the middle of the island, you can make several excursions and day trips, especially if you rent a car to have the flexibility you want. The significant archaeological Minoan sites of Knossos and Phaistos, the Cretaquarium, one of the biggest aquariums in Europe with thousands sea species, as well as the Acqua Plus Waterpark are located in less than one-hour drive from Stalis by car.
